I plan to blog during the weekend from the Canadian Motorsports Expo, which this year is promising really big things.
For instance, add Max Papis to the list of famous names already confirmed to attend the Expo this weekend — Junior Hanley today, Steve Arpin, Dario Franchitti and Papis tomorrow (Saturday) and Brad Keselowski on Sunday.
The Expo will kick off this afternoon with a media conference featuring the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Series making a major announcement concerning the 2011 season. Other media conferences and panel discussions as well as displays and presentations are making the Expo — being held at the International Centre on Dixon Rd. in Mississauga (just past the airport if you’re coming from the 401) — a must-attend event.
Papis will participate in an on-stage Fan Q&A and Autograph Session at 6 p.m. Saturday. Earlier, he will spend some time around the Race Time Radio booth/display.
In 2011, Papis will be racing full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series but first he’ll pilot a Daytona Prototype in the Rolex 24 at Daytona next weekend.
The versatile, Italian-born racer, who now resides in North Carolina, has spent time in Formula One, NASCAR Sprint Cup, CART, Grand Am, IMSA and just about any other kind of racing car and/or series you can think of.
