WEEKEND HEADLINES:
1. NASCAR likely to come down hard on Childress
2. Formula One making dreadful mistake on Bahrain
3. Robin Bucks avoids Ranger, wins Canadian Tire race
SYNOPSIS: Car owner Richard Childress assaulted rival driver Kyle Busch following Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Series truck race at Kansas Speedway. Childress is 66, 40 years older than Busch. The kid likely didn’t want to clobber an old man, so held off. NASCAR was not amused, clearing Busch of any responsiblity and sending a signal that it would penalize Childress. We will find out today how stiff that penalty will be. See NASCAR post below.
Meantime, the people who run Formula One have put Bahrain back on the 2011 schedule, dead demonstrators be damned, and all sorts of people, including a very prominent driver, are aghast. See FORMULA ONE post, second below.
Finally, Robin Buck won the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Circuit ICAR in Quebec on Sunday but only after rival driver Andrew Ranger put Alex Tagliani into a tire wall and then refused to accept a drive-through penalty and was disqualified. Tag wasn’t the only driver Ranger punted out of the way. Plus all sorts of other weekend racing results, most involving Canadians. See OTHER RACING post, third below.
