Step on it!

You can bet General Motors is not going to like this entry in their SUV ad contest. See it here before they kill it. Which should be any second now!

beauty, eh!

OUTSTANDING! Way to go Dana! Thanks Antonia.

Now THAT is a true CLASSIC! Too bad its a SW file and cannot be saved.

Ha!

Brings a whole new meaning to 'truth in advertising' doesn't it:)

Wonder if Buzz Hargove likes it, after all his workers depend on cheap oil.

To quote J. Marc DeMatteis' work from Keith Giffen's _Justice League_ plots back in the day: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Many thanks, Antonia!

Likes it. Likes it a lot.

Making an ad really gets the blood racing!

This must be what it's like to drive one of those monsters in the flesh!

here's my version (if Antonia agrees to put in the link):

Antonia agrees and laughs

LOL...After I chain saw a little Vancouver island old growth I'm goin' get me one of them thar Tahoes...Yup.

I tried making one -- very funny if I do say so myself -- but can't seem to find a way to put up a link for it here.

You have to email the link to yourself. Then you can post it here.

Maybe the Star's firewall blocked it?

Didn't block the original.

Hahahahaha

Very good!

I love how creative everybody is!!!

It's worth noting the original ad by Dana has been pulled, while the subsequent ones are still accessible. I wonder if this is because Dana submitted his to the contest, while the ones the rest of us did are still in the realm of "drafts" so not noticed by GM yet. Or maybe it's just the weekend, and by Monday the other ones will be pulled too.

Here's a link to six more "commercials" (with commentary) that have found their way to the Allderblob. The Some of them are brilliant.

http://allderdice.ca/?p=104 (I'll also post them individually below).

I have heard tell of a software program that can "capture" movies like these. Does anyone know how it works? It would be a real pity to have all this talent go down the drain when GM pulls the plug on this "apprenticeship" gig.

How long until we hear "You're Fired!" echoing from the ad exec boardrooms of GM in Detroit? Heads will roll, even if the SUVs don't.

blobby, the original wasn't mine actually. I haven't done one.

I came across the link to the original at dKos and put it here. I'm reaaaaal sure that dKos has a way bigger readership than Madame Zee's Metropolitan Media Mart. With all due respect of course.

Thanks for the dkos tip, Dana. I waded through it and found this link:

http://www.stuffm8.com/Kossacks/html/index.html

It has about 10 more "commercials" saved to a site independent of the GM website.

Antonia, I read your column today and have to say it occured to me that it's GM who's laughing all the way to the dealership on this campaign.

Worse yet, they may be attracting a whole new generation to the evil job of manufacturing commercials! Oh well.

Despite my misgivings and annoyance at being taken in by GM, I wanted to forward to you this link to "Youtube" where a few people have captured their commercials for posterity: http://www.youtube.com/results?search=tahoe&sort=video_date_uploaded --ignore the first one, which seems to be about someone's vacation in Tahoe New Mexico.
