CTV's Mike Duffy is alive and well in Ottawa, where he is recuperating after open heart surgery. (Yes, he has a ticker!)
Duffy, host of Mike Duffy Live on CTV Newsnet, underwent the procedure at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute last week.
Lillian Duffy, the newsman's mother, told the Charlottetown Guardian that he is expected to make a full recovery.
"His operation was successful and he's home," she said from her Charlottetown home. "We're all grateful he's making a good recovery."
Duffy, 60, suffered a minor heart attack 14 years ago.
I know he's doing okay because he emailed me a few minutes ago to ask me about something I blogged while he was out of commission. I don't think it made him happy. But hey, better a mad Mike than a dead Duffy.
Get well soon Mike!

I didn't know the Puffster had a heart!

Find me someone who does not love Ol' Duff!

Duffy is one of the true gentlemen and a boon companion, bet elbows or stone cold (sober that is).
Here's hoping the Batester will have the good taste to lay of this latest health setback of Mike's--or did Mike's lawyers not obtain some sort of permanent injunctive relief as part of their settlement of the Duffster's lawsuit against Fwank some eons ago.
Just asking...
'Cheers and steady recovery to da liddle guy from PEI!

I'll start the roll call on that issue. It could get longer than you think.

Whooee! I reckon the part 'bout this that knocked me fer a loop was when I seen the big boy had a heart attack 14 years ago. Jest one look at pore ol' Mikey an' anybuddy can see he's a heart attack waitin' t' happen. I'da figgered he woulda got hisself in shape after gettin' a scare.
Don't get me wrong, ToniGal. I like ol' DuffFeller. It makes me sad when I see folks who's smart but not don't look after themselves. Sorta like ol' Ariel Sharon. Who couldn't see he was headed fer troublems in the cardio-vascular department?
I got me sum good buddies who's in the selfsame boat. They're smart an' informed but, dang-it-all, they keep smokin' an' packin' on the weight an' hardly ever get out fer even a stroll 'round town. I'll be sad when they keel over dead but it won't be no surprise.
Anyways, ToniGal, I wish MikeMan all the best. Mebbe you could start a fund here on yer boog t' buy a gym membership fer the big feller. One thing bodes well fer Mikey is his ol' Ma is still kickin'. He oughta at least try t' live longer'n her.

Duffy's one of the most decent people in Ottawa, but I never pegged him as a heart disease candidate. Who knew?
Get well, Duff. My kids are getting tired of praying for ya.

I believe this is Duffy's second heart attack. The first one, I think, was when he had Rachel Marsden on and she didn't stick to his script.

"Duffy's one of the most decent people in Ottawa"??!! You gotta be kidding. Ask Margeret Trudeau how decent Duffy is or anyone who's had to work with him.
