Jays acquire pitcher

The bullpen situation became more crowded for the Jays yesterday afternoon, when lefthander Bill Murphy was claimed from the Diamondbacks and added to the 40-man roster. To make room, Casey Janssen was placed on the 60-day disabled list.

Murphy, 26, spent most of the ’07 season with AAA-Tucson, going 3-3, with a 3.68 ERA in 54 games. He walked 43 and struck out 102 in 100-1/3 innings. In a brief callup to the D’Backs, he posted a 5.68 ERA in 10 appearances.

Lefty relievers in camp include B.J. Ryan, Scott Downs, Brian Tallet, John Parrish and Murphy.

This is JP's final chance, is it not? Even he was saying (last year) to judge him after 2008 on account of all the injuries and here we are. Can you see him surviving past this year if the team wrestles with mediocrity yet again?

Richard, why do you fail to mention Mike Gosling? He is still in camp and doing well. Why the constant snub when talking about the bullpen, and in this case, the lefties in the bullpen? Parrish is no more on the 40-man than is Gosling.
