Reed Johnson catches on quick

JEFF CHIU/AP
It didn't take long for Reed Johnson to strut his stuff with the Cubs. Based on the emailers to this blog, Jays fans aren't happy about this.

On the Mailbag above, will you also be tracking how few games Johnson plays against right handed pitching versus Stewart's appearances?

Reed Johnson:

The fact that Reed Johnson was let go makes me feel that the current management still has not learned from the past (I thought they wanted to win); letting Delgado go, Hudson and Carpenter, etc.) . I think Shannon Stewart is a good hitter, but I have witnessed on so many occasions other teams just taking advantage of his spaghetti arm and run for home plate and score. Now with two sub-average left fielders defensively I feel the team has really taken a step back in left field. Sure they save a bit of cash but at what cost (coming in on the short end of the stick in a few games, which could cost you the post season)? I just hope that Shannon Stewart hits 300 or better and the same for Matt Stairs because I know players do go through hitting slumps but their defence or lack thereof will always be there. Johnson's grit and drive will surely be missed as well as the highlight reels of him making outstanding catches in left. I guess we will have to see him doing it in a Cubs uniform. If Johnson goes on to repeat another 2006 season Riccardi will have again egg on his face.

Very Unhappy Fan. Shame on you Riccardi you went and had another brain freeze.
