WBC-Familiar Faces

On the field with Team Canada for batting practice were a couple of former Jays' trainers Tommy Craig and Scott Shannon. Craig, the longtime trainer through the glory years, is working for the Brewers and their Class-A team in Florida. Shannon is still living in Toronto. Both guys were let go by J.P. Ricciardi at different times. Also in the interview room was former Jays' pitcher, Paul Spoljaric. Team Canada might have been able to use another experienced lefthander in the bullpen, but Spoljaric, who plans on another year in the Intercounty League with Barrie, didn't have anywhere to train and get ready so he didn't even inquire. Former Jays' travelling secretary John Brioux is director of team travel for Canada. Former ticket manager George Holm also is working this round of the WBC -- not in tickets. Cal Quantrill and Cody Milloy, one the son of Paul Quantrill and the other of Jays' clubhouse manager Kevin Milloy are teammates on the Whitby Minor Midget baseball team and are batboys for today's game.
