Griff's Power Rankings, Week 8

(Last week's rankings in parentheses)

1-Dodgers (1)

If Manny voted in as all-star, system should be changed. Shake yourselves

2-Rangers (2)

Millwood no longer lone Ranger when it comes to solid starters

3-Phillies (3)

Moyer finally wins 250th; might reach 300 -- if he pitches until he's 50

4-Red Sox (4)

Sox big weaknesses are at shortstop and, amazingly, at DH with Big Papi

5-Yankees (5)

Teixeira beginning to pay off with A-Rod as his hired muscle

6-Brewers (9)

Cat lands on his feet; Catalanotto back in majors with a winner

7-Cardinals (6)

If Cards make post-season will be LaRussa's finest performance

8-Tigers (7)

Tigers burning bright aided by revamped hard-throwing bullpen

9-Mets (13)

Without Delgado and Reyes, Sheff must start to cook

10-Blue Jays (8)

Jays record 8-10 in series in which Halladay not scheduled to start

11-Angels (11)

Showdown with Jays reveals much about Angels hopes for playoff heaven

12-Braves (10)

Chipper healthy and back in the lineup leading NL East charge

13-Reds (15)

Reds middle-of-pack until middle-of-order leader steps up

14-Giants (22)

Dodgers-Giants 1-2 in NL West is always fun, but so far not close enough

15-White Sox (23)

Ever since threat of Jake Peavy trade, other starters have pulled up Sox

16-Twins (14)

Twins' Morneau and Bosox Bay two Canuck leaders in AL MVP race

17-Padres (16)

Peavy not accepting trade to Chisox turns into best non-deal ever, for both

18-Cubs (18)

Who would have thought Fukudome has more game than Milton Bradley

19-Rays (12)

The David Price era of Rays pitching has begun. But where's B.J. Upton?

20-Royals (17)

Off-season addition of Jacobs from Marlins has been Royal disappointment

21-Mariners (20)

Ichiro provides more '09 hitting, less distractions. M's better, but not good

22-Pirates (19)

Hinske's streak of two WS in two years with different teams comes to end

23-Marlins (24)

Fish better build new stadium before south Florida changes its mind

24-Orioles (26)

Halladay isn't the only pitcher that Luke Scott owns. The guy can hit

25-Diamondbacks (25)

At least one Upton (Justin) is having a solid year. Snakes will be better

26-Astros (21)

Minute Maid Park clearly not juiced; Astros beaten to pulp at home

27-Indians (28)

Grady Sizemore on DL not good news for Tribe

28-Rockies (27)

Hurdle disproves theory that there ain't no mountain high enough

29-A's (29)

A's young starters are pitching just well enough to lose

30-Nationals (30)

Nats with 6-1/2 game lead over A's for title of worst team in MLB
