Figgins and M's Deal Coming Soon

According to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times, free agent third baseman Chone Figgins will have his physical on Monday then be announced as the newest Mariner. Baker says that with all the M's executives in Indy this week, they will likely wait to have a press conference in Seattle on Thursday.

Figgins late in the '09 season was mentioned in this blog as a possible fit for the Jays, filling the leadoff role and providing needed speed at the top of the order. I still feel that way, but money in a rebuilding phase for the Jays was always going to be a problem.
