Hill Scratched from lineup vs. Canada

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA.-Second baseman Aaron Hill was scratched from the starting lineup in the Jays' B Game against Canada's Junior National Team at Al Lang Field. Hill has been nursing a left quadriceps strain, with his only action this spring in a B Game vs. the Philles on Wednesday. He had two at-bats and played one inning in the field.

“It's not a big deal,” Hill said. “The game (vs. the Phils) they were kind of just testing tolerance. They knew I felt something. I took yesterday off and today was more just get here and they said if you're not 100-percent we don't want you playing. I went through everything and I told them I can play. But I'm not 100-percent.

“I still feel it a little bit, but it's not a big deal. I can play. The main thing is there's no reason to go through anything, like I said earlier and have a 16-year-old strike me out. It's really not a big deal. It's just all precautionary.”

The Jays brought along an extra infielder, Ryan Goins, just in case Hill could not play.
