Cecil misses start with cut finger

Lefthander Brett Cecil has been scratched from Friday's start for the Jays against the Yankees with a cut on his left index finger suffered in a kitchen accident, cleaning out a blender.

Cecil will be replaced in the rotation by righthander Dustin McGowan who started last Sunday against Baltimore and will be pitching on his fifth day. McGowan had been slated to start on Sunday, after making his first start in 1160 days.

Henderson Alvarez will stay in rotation on Saturday, with Brandon Morrow moving up to Sunday against New York.

Cecil also suffered a cut finger in an undisclosed kitchen-type accident that kept him out of a spring training start on March 4, 2010.

Note to all Jay Players. Stay out of the kitchen!!!!

I have never heard about anyway being cut by a blender, but I have of course not heard about everything. Joe Sakic's hockey career ended when he got cut by a snow blower, a number of other athletes have been cut when they hand curtains and a number of other strange situations.

Do these things happen as much in the general population, or are they code or cover-up for something else?? I am not necessarily thinking about the local baseball player now - but more in general??

That's embarassing.

My spelling is also "embarassing"...
