Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow injured in first inning

Brandon Morrow was lucky. After just nine pitches, with nobody out and facing rookie Bruce Harper with a runner on second base, the Jays starter, Morrow walked off the mound in obvious discomfort. The righthander was escorted off the field by trainer George Poulis and pitching coach Bruce Walton, relieved by righthander Chad Beck.

Three innings later, the report came back that Morrow had suffered a strained left oblique and is being listed by the Blue Jays as day-to-day. That is as good a report as the Jays could have received. His next scheduled start would be on June 17 against the Phillies, using Thursday's off-day for an extra day of rest.
