From the Blue Jays' clubhouse following 7-5 win over Red Sox

John Farrell regarding Friday's return of both Brett Lawrie and J.P. Arencibia:

"It was great to see both guys, not only get to the ballpark today, but the energy that they bring with them individually and the fact we're able to write their names in the lineup is a good thing. Right off the get-go, Brett gets a ball just inside the first base bag. Even though it wasn't one of his patented swings, it's almost like he picked up right where he left off and set the tone for us."

Farrell on Alvarez with his longest outing since August 14:

"He was powerful, threw a lot of strikes, he kept the ball on the ground. Even after the sixth inning he said there was some stiffness in the back of the triceps so we were going to make the move regardless of what took place, after those two righthanders in the seventh inning. He did a very good job for us. Once again the groundball double play he was able to induce for us on a couple of occasions, I thought we played solid defence on the infield.

Farrell on the triceps strain:

"You monitor every guy in between every inning and he just felt like it was starting to come on a little bit so we weren't going to push things too far with him.

Farrell on the offence:

A couple of big home runs. Sierra hits a 3-1 pitch that he gets up in the middle of the plate and Colby, when he's right, that's as good a swing as you're going to see.

Farrell on the extra righthanders in his lineup:

"That's not to slight anyone on this club, but when you've got your everyday guys back not only does it add the energy and I think an overall air of confidence to this group, the fact that they put some good swings on the ball, I know that between them there was only one base hit tonight, but just their presence in the lineup gives us a different look.

Farrell on Encarnacion's home run:

"Edwin's been taking good swings since the beginning of the year and even when he gets out on the front foot, when you look at what his production has been on a 1-2 count, he's hitting almost .350 on the year with a high number of home runs. He doesn't overswing the bat in those counts. He stays on the baseball and with his power he can hit the ball out to any part of the ballpark. You can't say enough about the year he's had for us.

Farrell on the four wins in a row at Fenway for the Jays

"We've swung the bat very well here. Even right down to the final out tonight, they didn't give in. They didn't give any outs away late. We had enough to hold on. This team when we come in here, you can feel the energy in this ballpark. This is a unique atmosphere and our guys respond very well to it.

Brett Lawrie on his first at-bat back after the DL time:

"I just ended up getting lucky that I got one down the line and thankfully he was playing off the line."

Lawrie on just being back with the team:

"Yeah, I just walked out there for warmup just before the game and got the feel of the atmosphere again and took a big deep breath and just tried to take it all in again and just glad to be back."

Lawrie on more team confidence with the returning duo back:

"Yeah, I felt like there was a little bit more energy. I felt like we had a bunch of guys in the dugout too and we were on top of it and I just felt like, yeah, we were getting runs on the board and we're picking each other up and when we do stuff like that. Henderson did a wondferful job. He allowed us to get back in the dugout and get guys on base and allowed us to keep doing what we were doing. Hats off to him. He threw a great game."

Lawrie on the difference between playing in Dunedin and Lansing or Boston:

"There's a little bit of a difference, but I'm not really thinking about that, I'm just thinking about trying to see the ball, trying to get a good pitch to hit, not really thinking about being in Boston playing against the Red Sox. It's just another game for me and I'm glad to be back.

Lawrie on the team aspect of hitting:

"We pick each other up and we push one another to obviously strive to win. Obviously we pick each other up and I think we did a good job today of situational hitting and we had some big home runs for us. Rasmus put the hammer down at the end which was a good confidence for us because they put a couple up on us and made it a little bit close."
