Offside Offensive
Are you kidding me? This passes for sports ''comedy?'' Hey, I like a good joke -- and tell many a raunchy un-PC one -- but these videos go way beyond the sexist foul line.
What do you think? Is it just me getting cranky or do these videos deserve a pass?
Via Feministing.

They certainly weren't funny. But I don't see how they could be considered sexist to anyone other than the feminuts at feministing. Those women have gone off the deep end.

I guess that makes me a feminut too. LOL.

I've never seen you slip over the line from feminist to feminut, Antonia. Don't get me wrong, the women at feministing do cover some important stuff, but far too often they sound like right whingers just looking for something to be offended about. And should anyone point that out they're set upon by the pack. I know. I tried to defend a bit of satire from Scott Feschuk one time that had them howling. Their ferocity made me wonder if I'd inadvertently said they didn't have the right to vote or something.

Ugh. I think they deserve a fail. Not funny. Who is the audience? Certainly not appealing to women with them. I don't think they'd appeal to men, either, since they get all squeamish about "female things".

Merriam-Webster online defines sexism as follows:
1: prejudice or discrimination based on sex ; especially : discrimination against women
2: behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex
I don't really see either in the two videos. The OB/GYN football nut is inappropriate, but the nature of that inappropriateness is that you can't use football as a metaphor for life, much as to the true football aficionado may want to.
Maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks Alex. I've never understood football, let alone as a metaphor for life.

I thought they were doctorist. And boring. But not really sexist because everybody comes across as an idiot - sort of like pro sports fans in real life, I guess.

The producers are brilliant. Not only is it funny in its own right, but by making the doctor black, they've inoculated themselves against criticism from feminists.

Sooey Sweetie,
So-called "racist" and "sexist" jokes can often be very funny, but these were just pointless.
"doctorist" - remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry was called "an anti-dentite bastard"?
delivered in the right tone of voice, your comment was much funnier than anything at Yuk Yuk's

What's humorous is that the feminists have been neutered in their responses bc the doctor is African-American. The video producers inoculated themselves brilliantly.

I didn't think this was offensive at all, but I checked out the full site, and was shocked by what I found:

Now that is absolutely REPULSIVE. And I'm not even religious.

They aren't funny, but they're not sexist. It's a lame attempt to relate football to birthgiving and doctors. I think the jokes are just so stupid and lame that they're offensive to my intelligence.
