Dr. Heckled and Mr. Hydes
Heckling is pretty much par for the parliamentary course in Canada. But many of us have noticed that women MPs -- who make up a fraction of our elected representatives -- tend to get heckled louder and longer than do the male MPs.
In fact, NDP leader Jack Layton today commented on the sexist nature of parliamentary heckling.
Yesterday, when Liberal MP Carolyn Bennett, who happens to be a doctor, tried to press the Conservative government, which stands accused of fumbling the H1N1 file, on the concerns of pregnant women, she was laughed at and shouted down by the Harpies.
Watch this video, uploaded by the Liberals:
And I always thought the Conservatives LOVED pregnant women -- or at least their ''unborn victim persons.''
UPPITY WOMAN DATE: How did I miss these posts by Impolitical and Dr. Dawg?
UPPITY SISTER DATE: Susan has Layton's statement.
During question period we have been witnessing undeniably sexist heckling from members of the government side. This abuse is growing hotter, it is growing more frequent and there is more bullying. I can hear some of it now, except in this case it is not targeting women as it all too often does in this chamber. It targets women representing opposition parties, all the opposition parties in the House.
<SNIP>
As a parliamentarian, as a man, a father, a grandfather, I call on the government's leadership to really get a grip on its members and set a higher standard.
Hear! Hear!

The pregnant woman who miscarried as a result of eating listeria tainted packaged meats in 2008 didn't feel any of that ReformaTory love when that happened.
Perhaps it was the fact that she was a Native woman that made Garry Ritz find the whole listeriosis outbreak such a knee-slapping laugh fest.

More and more these pro-lifer neo-cons show how little sense they make. Life seems to stop at Birth.
Where was their outrage when that pregnant woman was stabbed in a Dresden, Germany courtroom?
Also, as for Stevie and the Harpercons, notice how they go off in a huff when others dare to interrupt with protests?
Their (hapercons et al) whole existance is based on ironies, inconsistancies and of course, hypocrisy.

My understanding from people who were in the galleries that day is that the Cons were calling Bennett a word for the female anatomy that I cannot bring myself to say, and that no woman should be called in her place of work.

Esteemed and Beautiful Moderator,
You're quite right, H1N1 isn't very funny, but Carolyn Bennett .... is.
My younger daughter, who is constantly telling me: "Dad ... It's NOT FUNNY" actually thought that that YouTube was rather funny too.

Carolyn Bennett in The Star via Bread'n Roses :
"Sociopaths believe that what they get away with is right and what they get caught doing is wrong. I believe that the people of Canada are smarter that this government believes. This government has and will get caught in its lies.
Canadians want to elect genuine members of Parliament, not muzzled windup toys, robotic voting machines who repeat the purposely fallacious talking points by rote. On a daily basis, this government is debasing our Parliament and our democracy.
Honourable people tell the truth, or at least an interpreted and defensible version of the truth. This Parliament is replete with outright lies and contempt for the institution itself. This minority government has demonstrated no understanding that it reports to Parliament, not the other way around."

To Mr "The Stygian and his Shemitish Dogs"
A female physician and elected official who raises concerns in Parliament about the distribution of H1N1 vaccine and who gets heckled, ridiculed and shouted down by Con MPs members of the Government behaving worse than barnyard animals, gets angry and you think that's funny?
Sociopathy appears to be a characteristic common to gynophobes like you.

Esteemed and Beautiful Moderator,
From a comment on the Susan Delacourt article:
"In any event, I’m afraid Ms. Bennett invites hootin’ and hollerin’ because of her irate interventions, not because she’s a female."
De Frum Oase,
So that makes my daughter a gynophobe too?

and just what is it about women doctors who become Liberal MP's anyway?

as Bourque puts it
"Using Lib MP's idiotic logic, shouldn't Wal-Mart greeters be first ?"

I feel that people will come across their prince Charming when the time is right. People need to understand that peoples views on men and woman are different to one another. Who I may be interested in may be different then who the person beside me is. We all have different qualities in men and woman. But who you love may be your prince charming wheather he's perfect in your eyes or not!
