''Rough play.''
Those are the words that B.C.'s Honourable Judge G. Rideout used to describe the injuries suffered by ''G.E.'' after a night with convicted rapist Fernando Manuel Alves.
You know the perp here: Dr. Dawg, Dammit Janet and I have blogged about him several times since word of his get-out-of-jail-free card got out.
Thanks to Dr. Dawg's persistence, we finally have the actual decision. (I added the boldface.)
In Exhibit A, it is clear that G.E. was very distressed over what had happened, and the fact that she had a complete memory loss. She reported by way of injuries that her shoulders were tender and bruised. There was some bruises on her legs and the back of an arm. Her nipples were sore and bleeding. There was also significant pain and swelling to the vaginal area and there was some blood in the urine. It is indicated in Exhibit A that over the two weeks following the incident that her eyes became black. She had no recollection how the injuries were received which injuries are detailed in appendix B.

There was also detailed in Exhibit B pictures of the complainant with the accused with his cellphone taken at or about two o’clock in the morning where there is no evidence of any injuries. It would appear to be clear that there was some rough play in relation to the sexual contact which resulted in injuries to G.E.
[7] Lab results revealed the presence of ethyl alcohol in the amount of 110 milligrams. There were also various drugs that were identified in the lab results.
[8] The drugs that were taken are detailed in Exhibit A and it is noted in the admissions:
The sedative effect of these drugs would be additive to each other as well as to any sedation due to presence of alcohol. G.E. had not taken any allergy, antihistamine, flu, or cough medications for months.
Because he's such a good daddy, and such a good son and, although he's a convicted rapist, such a good common-law hubby, he got off with a 9 month conditional sentence, with no booze or non-prescription drugs and 100 hours of community work.
That despite evidence that G.E. had no injuries before going off disappearing with him, despite how there were drugs in her system that could not be accounted for, and despite the blood, the bruises, the black eyes, the broken nose ...
That's some ''rough play.''
By the way, sources close to the case say, while there was no denying that she was drugged, there was no way defence could prove that Alves did it. After all, it's pretty easy to slip something in a drink in a split-second.
For the record: Alves owns a lodge in Whistler which is ''the perfect setting'' for, among other events, your bridal shower.
Hey I wonder what the guys still dickering over rape statistics in this post have to say about all this.

I am aghast.

My mother always told us never to accept a drink from a stranger, never to leave our drinks on the table, never to leave our drinks out of sight, and to always keep them close to us on the table.
She also told us never to smoke ''OPs'' other people's cigarettes, because they might contain, oh I dunno, the evil weed.
:-)

One should wonder why other women who came forward after the Vancouver police made this case public, with reports that they had also been drugged in a bar and had awakened to their horror next to Alves, eventually decided not to proceed with their complaint.
Were those witnesses and victims somehow "encouraged" to drop their allegations?

True enough that one should never smoke another person's cigarette just in case the evil tobacco weed is in there.
