Sale Bait
Here's what's likely a new term for you: ''Linkbait.'' That's when websites use gimmicks to draw the hits to their content and, hence, their ads.
This video, created for Bitch Magazine, explains it very well. It also makes the point that women's bodies are commodified even by progressives to sell stuff.
It never changes.

We men are so easily lead by sexual content; so much so, I am sometimes embarrassed by our own shallowness and single mindedness. And as such, Huffington and friends exploit that behavior to their own business ends. Ladies and gentlemen, I do believe we have a long way to go. Let's not give up hope but then again let's admit that there is a long way to go. Men are definitely from Mars... :-)

Hear hear!!
(I like sayin that...hear hear...cant think of any other saying more old-white-guy than that!)
However, I watch/read/listen to political commentary all the time, and I never thought of the HuffPo as 'progressive' and I'm not sure that they actually present themselves in that way. Seriously. They present themselves on most panels, etc as sortof the freemedia opposite of say, Fox News: the richlady-defend-journalistic-integrity response to Fox News. You know, there's what'is face from Australia (who'll sink to any op-ed level, and there's whatsher Huff from Huff....who champions editorial and journalistic freedom and integrity....that kindof thing. Whether they accomplish that is another debate.
Case in point, the cover article tonight on the HuffPo re: Pres. Obama's speech this evening differs very little in tenor from David Gergen's comments on CNN (Gergen is an old Reagan staffer and regular Republican commentator on CNN, & formally on PBS/NPR.)
The tragic-sad thing about American media is that the progressive media is still Gwen Ifill on PBS/NPR. PBS/NPR still use Thursday night Mystery and Masterpiece Theatre as linkbait...much less ads there, so long as you dont mind the perpetual requests for $support.
