Scoreboard: June Canadian new vehicle sales

While American new car vehicles sales plummeted 18.3 per cent last month compared to June last year, the Canadian market hung in there with only a 5.7 per cent drop. Here's the scoreboard for last month's Winners and Losers:            

Automaker    2008/2007/08 to 07 change

Acura    1,600/1,890/-15.3% - New TSX not making much of a positive impact.
Audi    729/844/-13.6% - New bread-n-butter A4 can't come soon enough.
BMW    2,943/2,768/6.3% - Finance incentives continue to drive sales.
Chrysler    22,048/22,029/0.1%  - Value pricing keeping Chryco in the green.
Ford    21,959/25,439/-13.7% - No surprises: Focus sales up; F Series down.
General Motors    31,887/41,860/-23.8% - Guess what? Trucks collapse 35% .
Honda 14,918/15,017/-0.7% - Could probably sell more Civics if supply met demand.
Hyundai    8,049/7,582/6.2% - Dollar Store Accent helping here.
Infiniti    680/661/2.9% - G and new EX lux cute-ute leading the way.
Jaguar    101/65/55.4% - Nothing from nothing's still nothing...
Kia    3,772/3,400/10.9% -  Can't sell enough $9,995 Rios.
Land Rover    210/300/-30.0% -  You have to ask?
Lexus    1,557/1,272/22.4% - Canadian price adjustments working.
Mazda    8,510/9,064/-6.1% - Waiting for new Mazda6 sedan .
Mercedes-Benz    2,105/1,436/46.6% - Diesel sales ratio was 61.2% last month.
MINI    621/413/50.4% - New Clubman and miserly Cooper keep sales chugging along.
Mitsubishi    1,885/1,561/20.8% - Lancer and Outlander compacts in the sweet spot.
Nissan    6,488/5,922/9.6% - Compact Sentra sedan finally selling.
Porsche    160/184/-13.0% - What one can expect when consumer discretionary spending gets squeezed.
Saab    181/298/-39.3% - Refreshed 9-3 obviously not fresh enough.
smart    411/467/-12.0% -  Bad month. But year-to-date sales are up.
Subaru    1,822/1,351/34.9% - New Forester makes last month the best June ever in Canada.
Suzuki    1,251/1,226/2.0% -  Cheap and cheerful wins the day.
Toyota    20,871/19,339/7.9% - Prius & Camry hybrids up 68.6%—8.6% of all Toyota passenger cars in June.
Volkswagen    3,898/3,778/3.2% - Canadian price adjustments and City models working.
Volvo    873/1,008/-13.4% - Another down month for the soon-to-be-ex-Ford brand.

Total Light Vehicle Sales 159,529/169,174/-5.7%
