Live from Detroit!: Chrysler goes EV 24/7

P2050387P2050392 The company that brought you high performance monsters like the Viper and Challenger, now wants you to think of them as your electric company.

And no, not the PBS kid’s show.

Seemingly having drunken enough EV Kool Aid to sink a Ram pickup, here in Cobo Hall, Chrysler unveiled a restyled and renamed (now Dodge Circuit) version of its Lotus Europa-based EV sports car (above left), and added a Jeep Patriot EV (above right) and a future big sedan (below) to its already not-ready-for-prime–time EV stable.

Powered by a completely electric Chrysler ENVI drivetrain, Chrysler claims 0-96 km/h in less than 5 seconds and a top speed of more than 193 km/h.

P2050395P2050399With Chrysler’s Canadian head pen Ralph Gilles on hand, the 200C EV concept in real life will more than likely become the next gen 300 sedan with Chrysler's new Phoenix V6 still under development.

Seeing the lead other automakers have in the hybrid EV game, don’t expect any of these Chrysler green machines to go on sale any time soon.
