No Brainer Alert: Acura decides sports wagons may catch on
When Cadillac beats you to the punch, you know your product developers are asleep at the wheel.
That’s the only reason I can think of why the braintrust at Honda’s North American premium brand, Acura, has finally woken up and smelled the sports wagon roses and decided to sell here the Euro-only Accord Touring (above and below right) next Fall.Yikes!! What's next for Acura? Something wild and crazy, like diesels?
After years of BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Saab and now Cadillac, selling sports wagons, I think this is a No Brainer.
But are sports wagons on the up- or downswing?
Do you think peeps are finally fed up with cute-utes, like Acura’s RDX?

Don't forget the now-deceased Dodge Magnum...

I can't wait. Its about freakin' time too. I'm going to start socking money away for a down payment now. Time to replace my old Saturn wagon :)
Man its going to be a tough decision, which car do I take?
The 08 Saab 9-5 Sportcombi or the Acura TSX wagon? (once its sitting in the laneway)
Plus I don't have to pay those ridiculous prices the Germans are asking for their wagons.
ie. $74K for a 5 series Touring ? Give us all a break! No wonder people are buying the X5 - its $15K LESS.
You can buy a Honda Fit for the kids with the money left over.

As much as I like Euro-wagons, I won't even look at it if they put the ugly Acura grille on it.

I have to agree the new Acura grill is like driving a car that says 'Cyrano de Bergerac'.
I still think it looks better that those huge god-awful grilles they are putting on Lincolns these days. They are just plain ugly and pretentious.

Nothing says I have arrived as a re-badged Honda.

Its hard to say if the station wagon will ever be as popular as it once was in the 60's and 70's, or even as popular as the SUV or crossover, Chrysler discontinued the Magnum and Ford dropped the Taurus Wagon from that line up several years ago but replaced it with the Freestyle Crossover. But if that Accord Wagon is as big as one of the old Volvo 760/740 series wagons, then I would be intersted in it.
