NEW YORK – Do you think the people at Ford knew that their cross-town rivals at Chrysler were also debuting a redesigned muscle sedan here in New York? Most definitely. So while we’ll have to wait until later in the day to see the new SRT version of the Chrysler 300 full-size sedan, Ford unveiled a refreshed-for-2013 Taurus sedan in both cooking and hotter SHO guises thsi morning.

Ford says the 2013 Taurus lineup will offer  better fuel economy, more technology, enhanced design, improved craftsmanship and sharpened driving dynamics.” But what you’ll notice right away is the more aggressive front end, and new availability of the 2.0-litre turbo four-banger with 237 hp that will also be sold in the Explorer crossover.

The regular 3.5-litre V6 continues in the base Taurus gets some tweaks that create 290 hp. And while the Taurus SHO, seen above, receives some new styling and a revised suspension, the 355 hp turbo V6 carries on.
