Cycling Hub rolls out
Welcome to thestar.com's new cycling blog.
The Cycling Hub is a place where you'll be able to find the latest news, information and commentary on what's going on with cycling in and around the city.
We want to make it a place for lively discussions about the key issues affecting those on two wheels, as well as those they share the streets with.
It will also be a place to find useful maintenance tips, cool rides around the GTA and Q & A sessions with experts.
But most of all, it will be a place where will get to hear from you on the issues.

I'm glad that the police think that bicyclists shoudl stop for a red light. I wonder if the police would also enforce the following for bicycles as well. No going the wrong way on a one way street. No riding on the sidewalk, No riding after dark without a light.
I ride the go train into Toronto, and the cyclists seem to think the sidewalks are for their use. Frankly at Yonge a King there isn't enough space for the pedestrians.

Dear Cycling Hub,
I have two questions about cycling on city streets that do not have bike lanes.
1) Are cyclists legally allowed to pass motorists on the right?
2) Who has the right of way, a cyclist going straight or a motorist turning right?
It'd be great if you could answer these on your blog, because neither cyclists nor motorists are clear on the answer.
Thanks

@dandmb50 - This is a great idea, and a little late coming but well worth the wait. There are thousands if not tens of thousands bikers downtown and more everyday. We need to make it safe for all. The cutting out of the Jarvis St bike lanes is wrong, and it will cost the city even more money to close it but the city saying they have NO money is just a fallaci. Are the govt not getting tax money from all the new condos that go up all around downtown?
