BERNARD WEIL/TORONTO STAR
The Star's Chief Photographer/Multimedia, Bernard Weil had just come off the roof of the family cottage at Pigeon Lake after blowing the gutters clean when he heard a rustling sound beside him and observed the downspout jiggling side to side. Weil dropped the ladder and yard blower that he was carrying, pulled out his iPhone and started up his favorite photo app - Hipstamatic. Waiting quietly, the little guy finally appeared, unaware that the forecast for the area called for heavy rains. We think the little guy better find a new home for the night.

A pelican, which was named "Mahrouma", meaning deprived in Arabic, by Lebanese fisherman, Abed Ibrik, waits to be fed in the Lebanese port city of Sidon on July 10, 2012. Ibrik rescued Mahrouma four years ago after she was shot in the wing while flying over Sidon and he now feeds her every other day and considers her as part of the family.
