All the trivia that fits. A 'hugging high' in Montvale, N.J.

Hugging The Gray Lady has been going soft for years. This week the NYT informed us that magenta ("Don't call it pink!") is the new black, that the First Lady is (still) short-tempered with the water-walker, and that a teen hugging pandemic has parents and school administrators in a panic. Well, three or four of them, anyway. This last revelation, front-paged, no less, and a joint venture with NBC (you can never put too much investigative talent on an important story) makes the top 10 ranking of lamest Times pseudo-trend pieces ever. It's this kind of fluff that for years has kept the blogosphere smug about the death-rattle of newspapers...
