These are part of a family that has been coming every day morning and evening and sometimes in between, for several generations, once the snow covers their normal grazing.
Manitoulin Island (in Georgian Bay) is the world’s largest freshwater island.
Year round permanent residents total 12,000 (4,000 of which are First Nations)
This swells to 30,000 in peak of summer tourist / cottaging season and in November during deer hunting
Average white tailed deer population – est. 30,000.
Also the occasional bear and cougar sighting.
