The vice president lays into Rep. Barton (R-Tex.), the oil-industry shill who actually apologized to Tony Hayward, CEO of BP, for the $20-billion escow fund Obama demanded from BP on behalf of Gulf Coast residents and businesses jeopardized by BP's epic oil spill - watch for an example of justified, genteel outrage at its best:
You just heard Biden acknowledge he knows the Gulf Coast "pretty well" as an "outsider." So no patronizing from the veep. But the Scranton, Pa. native knows all about big ugly steelmills desecrating the valleys where people are expected to live, when those people aren't being abruptly laid off in the thousands, destorying local economies. The Gulf tragedy is enough to make any half-way compassionate person fly off the handle. Joe didn't, more power to him. But make no mistake he knows intimately the dark side of corporate behavior.
