Wonderful photo David. I see this scene almost every year - having 10 nest boxes on my property. This year, the Eastern Bluebirds arrived a few days later than usual - while the tree swallows arrived early - staking out the nest boxes in the best locations. Fortunately - they all found accomodation - and raised broods. I also have three boxes that invariably are home to house wrens - one brood of which are singing outside my office as I type (it CAN get boring after a while - lovely trill but repetitive).

I envy you the scene outside your window. It's no trifling enjoyment. Alice Munro, based in bucolic Clinton, Ont., has said, "I spend half my time looking out the window." No mystery there. That's where life is happening. (I do get the impression you're spending vast sums on bird feed, you are a generous soul.)
