We'll be right back...

...after these commercial messages.

Grits have released about half a dozen hastily made ads with the catchy theme, "Is this your Canada or Harper's?" I expect these anti-Harper ads, devoid of Grit promises, are preaching to the converted. But not a bad base on which to build the case for a Liberal alternative.

Layton's sincere but looks tired. Biggest change from previous campaigns: the giant Canadian flag - no orange in sight.

Of the ones I've seen live - the Liberal Ads. with Michael Ignatieff speaking seem to have been filmed at the end of the day. His voice and demeanour both give the image of tiredness. I think maybe the handlers are trying to have him sound statesmanlike and serious - but it falls flat. Kind of reminiscent of the early years of Dalton McGuinty - when they had him speaking like an automaton (his delivery is much more natural now) - or - further back - when the handlers stopped Jean Chretien "speaking from the heart" - off the cuff - and left the middle part of his career bloodless. fortunately, he found himself again towards the end!
