Obama smear: An oldie but a goodie.

This just in, to my Toronto Star e-mail box, which has, like seven firewalls that this slimer managed to slither through:

Dear Sir;

Republican has said to me that OBAMA has spent more  money in these few year
than any of the previous govts.  Could you research this for me?  Would greatly
appreciate it.

I'm sure there's a war-room name for this type of smear. It's a robo-smear, but by e-mail rather than the phone calls to South Carolina voters in that state's infamous 2000 GOP primary: "Would you vote for John McCain if you knew he was the father of a black love child?"

As with the Obama smear, no response, in fact, is requested. The smear is to plant an idea in the voter's mind. Mission accomplished.

I hope David Plouffe & Co. are geared up for this. Because (a) it's starting awfully early, and (b) I don't even live in the U.S. and I'm getting this stuff. And the reply e-mail is also a Canadian address. That's how indiscriminate this effort - by the RNC? the Koch fronts? - is.
