Enjoy your weekend.
My favourite place on Earth. Stand here, and watch one-fifth of the world's fresh water thunder across this threshold. And think of those who've come to see this marvel: Emerson, Dickens, Lincoln, Mikhail Gorbachev, Marilyn Monroe...In high season, there isn't a more romantic spot: Lovers from the world over taking in air heavy with romance on warm summer nights. In winter, serenity and solitude, just you and one of the wonders the Almighty wrought. (CP)

That is an incredible image. Thanks for amazing me!

For the record, atheists can appreciate the Falls just as much. ;-)

Not to forget Louis Hennepin, the Recollet priest and first European to see the Falls and write about them(circa 1680). Hennepin traveilled with Robert Cavelier de la Salle, one of the most fascinating characters in Canadian history.

David - missing your blog posts. Hope to see you back here soon!
4:00-ish in the morning. Stepped out to see if I could spot any meteorites from the forecast storm. Disappointed!
But the sky was magnificent - after months working down in Big Smokey - to get back up here and realize just how clear and limitless is the sky, most of which is obscured by lights and pollution down there, is always breathtaking.
And the reason for my post here - As I stood on my lawn - and listening to the near silence, the only slight sound impinging was the roar of Bridal Veil Falls about a 10 minute walk away - a smaller version of Niagara on the same geological structure....I guess she is spate from the 2-3" of rain we have had over the last week or so...

This is beautiful. Truly one of the spot's God has created for us to enjoy and watch our cares disappear. It's really lovely. Gifts like this can be enjoyed alone or shared with loved ones. As you suggested, it's a great spot to visit with a lover.
I think vacation spots that have some form of water or water sports do better than others, generally. I would have to investigate to see whether this is true. Maybe some day I can see this one ;-)
