How a knife, saw and set of pliers from a (sort of) stranger ended up in my purse

If anyone wants to know how I came to own the multipurpose tool I carry in my purse you can read about it here. Thanks to Frank for the gift and being a good sport.

One of my favourite parts about putting this story together was having the photo taken. Not that I am in love with the image (I never like posing for photos), but before I sat down to pose, Star photographer David Cooper spent some time showing off a Leatherman he bought a few decades ago. It came is a super-slick leather case that has become beautifully worn over time. Hoping I can find something similar the next time I buy a tool.

Nice natural looking photo.

I hold mine like that ALL the time! I hope it holds up for you until you replace it with the real deal.

It is a good look! I imagine that exact pose would be a good way, if needed, to keep people away from my desk. Thanks again for the tool.

Emily vs. the City

  • Emily Mathieu has big plans – big, complicated, somewhat foolhardy plans - to break away from her desk and become more self-reliant. How to fend off a dog attack, butcher your own meat and splint a broken wrist are just the beginning.
