An early afternoon update from the rink (thanks again Zoro), with three cuts today.
Shipped to Marlies camp are Ben Ondrus, David Teran and Ian White, which leaves 35 Maple Leafs heading into tomorrow's game against the Sabres.
Line combinations at today's practice goes:
Mats Sundin between Alex Ponikarovski and Mariusz Czerkawski
Jason Allison between Jeff O'Neil and Darcy Tucker
Matt Stajan between Nik Antropov and Alex Steen
Kyle Wellwood between Tie Domi and Chad Kilger
Clarke Wilm between Nathan Perrott and Steve Thomas
On defence: Khavanov, Berg, Belak, Kaberle, Kronwall, McCabe, Colaiacovo, Marchment and Wozniewski.
Not skating today are Eric Lindros (pulled muscle - should add quite a rough training camp and no points in the pre-season as well), JS Aubin (groin) and Ken Klee (still with the bruised heel). Five others in camp who are not on the ice today (prolly packing their bags): Brad Leeb, Marc Moro, Brad Brown, Jay Harrison and John Pohl.
Yup, that's our beloved Stumpy skating on not the fourth, but fifth line today. Not that we think he needs more good karma, but just 'cause it'll be crazy fun - check out Chris Young's JABS tomorrow for the Stumpython.
Is the 4th line supposed to be:
Kilger - Wellwood - Domi????
I sure hope so.

Ha! What did I tell you? Ben Ondrus sent down. 'Tis but a short question of time before the rest of the youth on this team is banished to the annals of the AHL and/or shuffled off to other clubs and go on to become reasonable stars.
That was some shellacking by the Senators last night. Can't say I was surprised. Before the exhibition round started I recall proclaiming Ottawa would own the Leafs this year. Not to put too much weight into pre-season games, but kids, wake up. The writing is on the wall. Ottawa is final four bound. Toronto is just bound.
Guys I'd like to see make the team but whom I suspect won't:
Wellwood, Pohl, Steen, Brown, Racine, Kronwall
Guys who will make the team that I wish wouldn't:
Antropov, Ponikarovsky, Thomas, Berg, Tellqvist
Speaking of Tellqvist, that was some mega-pathetic display of goaltending to start the game last night. I'm beginning to wonder if the Leafs Future Goalie(TM) could stop a medicine ball, let alone a puck.
It's gonna be a long season for Leafs fans. But don't cha' just LOVE having this to complain about again? I do.

Your keep/lose list is perfect. This is quickly shaping up to be the same old story: robots on roller skates fanning on open-net shots, while the vetrans languish on the injured list. (All with Mats at the centre somehow maintaining his composure.)
We have to get rid of lead handed monsters like Antropov, Poni and Domi. Let the farm kids play! At least they're hungry!

yeah lunchbill "it's shaping up to be the same old story" 103 points last season played...
the same old story is the tale of the fans who complain no matter what and who continually criticize Quinn despite the fact he's a very successful coach.

Where did this "Leaf Nation " come from? Do we have to insult native people now? Leaf fans have sank to a new low to try and come up with a new "catch" phrase.

Okay, I have said it before and I will say it again. Give me a break!!!
Fans in Toronto will always find something to complain about no matter how good (or bad) the season turns out to be. The Leafs could win the Cup and there would still be people complaining that it took them too many games, or that they only won because the other team wasn't playing well, etc...
I, unlike others, am going to actually wait until the season begins and they actually play some games that mean something before I start to worry about their chances for the Cup!
I don't know about anyone else, but I am starting to get tired of turning on the radio or reading the newspaper and always hearing the negative about the Leafs.
Just once I would like to hear a TORONTO sportscaster actually say something good about the Maple Leafs! Oh well, I guess that is just wishful thinking on my part!
