The morning links, where freezing rain never falls and the forecast is eternal sunshine, at least until playoff time:
Bad night for T.O. teams: Leafs come unglued during a terrible second period in Denver, and the Raptors play matador defence in Salt Lake City.
Randy Starkman reports that no one seems to want to be Canada's flag-bearer in Turin because it might affect their performance, poor dears.
Shane Doan is suing MP Denis Coderre. Wonder what the spread is on this one. Surely it can't be any higher than the Conservatives over the Liberals next Monday.
Another fortnight is up, which means Ken Owen has a new global Sportblog Roundup. (Especially liked the one on suspicions of match-fixing at the world darts championship).
Today's best bet: Manchester United vs Burton Albion. It wasn't so long ago that the FA Cup final was the occasion for one of the best parties I could ever hope to attend. Okay, so I didn't get many invitations -- these days, neither does the FA Cup. Still, this third-round replay is one of those Goliath-home-to-David matchups, the non-league Brewers and their pedigreed manager Nigel Clough facing (dis)United at Old Trafford.
Yesterday's best bet: Carolina beats Flyers in a shootout, and so the Hurricanes are No. 1 in the NHL. A stirring third-period comeback gets the job done. 3 1/2 stars.
And at noon, keep an eye out here at JABS for the midseason Raptors bloggers e-mail roundtable, where four Raptors experts kick around the year so far for the guys in purple.
