We lost a good one a couple of days ago.
Tom Silver, whose 1965 Mustang was always a top attraction at Targa Newfoundland and at other vintage car rallies across North America, has passed away, following a bout with cancer.
I still can't make hyperlinks work in this blogging software, but if you cut-and-paste the following into your browser, it should take you to his obituary in the Duluth (Minnesota) News Tribune. If you wish, you can register on that site and post a comment which I assume his family will eventually see.

Tom was a wonderful gentleman, a tough but fair competitor, and truly represented the spirit that events like Targa Newfoundland - and all classic car rallies - strive to exhibit.
He will be missed.
Jim, your blog truncated the link, but by going to the page source, I got the whole thing. http://tinyurl.com/c4q97v

Hi John:
Thanks, but I don't understand what's going on here!
What I included in the blog entry is EXACTLY (cut-and-paste) what I got in the the e-mail which told me about Tom's passing.
When I click on that link in the e-mail it goes straight to the obituary on the newspaper's web site.
But - like you - when I cut-and-pasted it back into my browser, it no longer works! (It did the first time I tested it...).
Strange...
Anyway, if you figure out what the correct code is please let me know!
Thanks,
Jim Kenzie
