Correction: I said earlier that Matthew Oldford was driving a hot Civic Si. He was behind us so I didn't actually see the car -he usually DOES drive a Honda or Acura, while his father Brian holds on for dear life.
But this year, they're in a Subaru Impreza WRX STi, obviously equally hot.
Matthew said at one point in the Prologue he locked the brakes up Big Time and thought he was heading for the water. But he gathered it up and went on to post fastest time.
Jim:
Great to see your Targa experience blogged here in good detail... I've been following it elsewhere on the official site and many other places.
I was one of the spectators on the prologue stage in Flatrock (yeah all 6 or 8 of us), I got soaked and frozen at the Confed Bldg Super-Stage and went to the car-show several times...
Besides the missing headlining factory teams and some Targa regulars, this year should be a great one and I will be taking more time off work to follow y'all around this week. I had that moment yesterday afternoon as you and others whizzed by when my camera brushed against the yellow tape where I thought "wow I am standing 5 feet from an actual rally stage".
Hope you and Brian keep the shiny side up and have fun,
