Hyundai is entering the Hybrid sweepstakes with a variant of the Sonata.
There is what is called an 'embargo' on what we learned about driving the car - we can't report on 'driving impressions' until all 'waves' of journalists have a chance to drive it.
Fair enough.
We'll have more details in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, here's what it looks like:
In other words, pretty much like the regular Sonata, except for a big hexagonal grille to allow enough air in to keep all the gubbins cool.
And some badging differences too:
Hyundai organized a little competition to see who could get the best fuel economy on our ride-and-drive.
How's this look?
NINETY-NINE MILES PER GALLON? Really?
Find out in Wheels in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, here's one way to get better mileage:
It's great to see new a hybrid that's not an SUV. It seems rather futile creating hybrid monster trucks when you can achieve the same gas mileage by just building a station wagon. Remember those? They have the same (or more) interior space as an SUV, but a whole lot less height and frontal area to push through the air.
