W5 on CTV has a great documentary on the two Canadian army amputee soldiers who won their class in Targa Newfoundland this past September.
Master Corporal Jody Mitic (right) and Corporal Andrew Knisley (left) won their class in the Acura TL, graciously supplied by Honda Canada (thank you Jerry Chenkin, Arch Wilcox and Richard Jacobs) when another car maker couldn't see the wisdom in getting behind this project.
Most importantly, the team raised over $100,000 for Soldier On, the organization that helps wounded soldiers adjust to the new lives they face.
We treat our dead soldiers with all the massive respect they are due. We - well, our governments - don't do such a good job with the men and women who survive in badly-damaged condition.
As I type, you still have a chance to see this. PVR search for 'W5', but understand that at least on Bell ExpressVu, you won't find mention of the soldiers. Look for the name 'Oderbien', a character on another segment of this show.
You can also see it on-line on W5's web site.
(Geez - did I just make the hot-link feature work on this blogging software??!?)
I watched this last night on W5 and even caught a glimpse of Jim. And, yes, the link works,
