I can't draw a straight line with a ruler.
Never stayed inside the lines in kindergarten either.
So I always knew I'd never make a living as a designer, even though (no kidding..) I actually had some thoughts about developing a clothing line.
Maybe this is my chance.
Hugo Boss, the German clothing company, is celebrating its 30th anniversary of sponsorship of McLaren's Formula One team by - well, truth be told, abdicating its responsibility as a clothing designer.
Boss's "Dress Me for the Finale" promotion consists of 29 regional contests which encourage race fans to design the driving suits for team drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, which they'll wear at the final race of the F1 season in Brazil.
We're being lumped in with the Americans for one such regional contest. The winner of this one becomes a 'semi-finalist' for the main competition, and gets a long weekend for two at the Montreal Grand Prix, including tickets to the race, air fare, hotel accommodation, and a chance to meet one of your 'mannequins'.
The overall winner gets a VIP tour for two to the Sao Paulo race.
Complete contest details can be found here.
For the drawing-disadvantaged (like me), the website contains a 'configurator' which enables you to submit your design. At least one Canadian design is already posted; you have until March 31 to enter.
