Tom Hnatiw, the very definition of a 'Car Guy', has passed away.
I have very few details at this point - I'll update as more information becomes available.
Perhaps the best way for you all to stay in touch with respect to memorial services would be at the web site of his company, Internal Combustion Group.
In addition to being the nicest guy you ever met, Tom had an amazing voice. Being a radio announcer was what he dreamed of growing up in Dauphin Manitoba.
He lived his dream, and then some.
Even his outgoing telephone voice mail message sounded like a K-TEL commercial.
He also had a terrific singing voice, and sang with my band on occasion.
Tom leaves his wife Debbie and two young sons.
We will all miss him.
One of the NICEST celebrities in all of Motorsports, Tom will be sadly and sorely missed by friends and fans at the SRT Viper Cup. His family must be so sad at the loss of such a fine man, gone far too soon. I wish I had heard him sing....

We've met Tom at a few Cruise-ins, and of course heard his voice at Mosport for many, many years. We enjoyed his banter with Peter Klute on Dream Car Garage. How sad. I'm sure he will be missed.

For over 30 years we have been trying to get the world to understand using NH3 (ammonia) as an energy currency and fuel. Few people in the automotive industry and media understand how viable and practicle this technology is, how economic it has become compared to the rising cost of hydrocarbon based sources of energy, or the long history associated with using ammonia as a fuel or energy conversion technology, which goes back to the mid 1800s. Tom knew what this would mean as soon as he heard about our work and he and his staff filmed a wonderful interview with me us the subject.
Thank you Tom, Colin and the rest of the people associated with your company (Internal Combustion Group) and the 'Hard Drive' TV series.

Tom was truely a great car guy. He was a friend of us at Snap-on and we were a sponsor of the Dream Car Garage for a few years. Working with him on the set or in the shop was always a treat. He will be sorely missed.
