Leafs will face Bruins in first round, just as asked
And so it’s set, just as Bleeding Blue asked for back on April 10: The Leafs are not going to take the easy way out of the first round.
(Not that it was our choice, but enough with our 1-2 record to close the season.)
Rather than face the beatable Montreal Canadiens, the Leafs are set to face their nemesis of late, the Boston Bruins, in the first round.
In our last 10 matchups, the Leafs have only beat the Bruins once. All-time, the Leafs are 8-5 against the Bruins in playoff rounds, but we’ve lost our last three, the most recent in 1974.
And wouldn’t you know it, the Bruins crushed the Leafs then, sweeping them 4-0 and sending them packing in the first round.
Revenge is sweet. Bring on the Bruins, just as that earlier post asked.
Our first game comes Wednesday, and in the meantime, some Leafs fan stories, breakdowns of the Bruins and Leafs, and photo galleries of the Leafs last playoff glory and woe will be coming to Bleeding Blue.
It’s an exciting time. Anything can happen.
Go Leafs Go. Cheers.
