Leafs will beat Bruins against all odds
We get it. The Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t favoured to beat the Boston Bruins. Big Deal.
Big deal we’ve only beaten them once in our last ten games. As a team Boston thinks they can easily beat, we’ll have the upper hand.
Big deal they’ve tossed us around like ragdolls as of late. As a team they think they can punish, well, Boston’s in for a nasty surprise. This Leafs team won’t be pushed around by anybody under Carlyle.
Big deal they have three players that have played nearly as many playoff games as our entire lineup. As a young team, full of playoff rookies, we’ll be bursting with nervous energy, unfazed by the crushing pressure of the NHL playoffs – it just won’t register.
It’s OK that we’re the underdogs – that’s the best position to be in.
As underdogs, we face no pressure. Boston’s is expected to win, not us.
As underdogs, against our toughest opponent, we’re set to win and gain confidence to beat whoever is left in our way.
This is the perfect matchup towards Stanley Cup glory. Playing Boston is a good thing.
Players love being the underdog. Nothing beats upsetting a favoured team. It just tastes sweeter.
Ask any athlete who has won a championship as an underdog rather than it being expected – it’s just sweeter when you have to work harder, against all odds.
I ‘beleaf’ the Buds, and all of us in turn, are about to find out just how sweet it can be.
Go Leafs Go. Cheers. (Oh, and who knows, maybe someone on the Leafs will even match the THROWBACK photo inside this post!!....
