Leafs Nation, this is it
This is it. The Toronto Maple Leafs must win tonight.
If not, our boys may as well pack their golf bags.
We have a chance to tie the series at 2-2 tonight, positioning ourselves to steal another in Boston on Friday and take the series in Game 6 at home.
If not, we go down 3-1 in the series and the Bruins can finish us off Friday in Boston. We can’t afford to give them that opportunity.
Tonight’s game is basically a Game 7 for us, and both the Leafs and Leafs Nation must keep this in mind.
Fans watching the Leafs’ playoff push on the big screen at Maple Leafs Square have been zealous, but our boys can’t hear them inside the ACC.
That’s why fans at the game need to step it up – at our first home game Monday, the ACC crowd was mostly silent, cheering fanatically only when the Leafs scored.
Listen to crowds in other buildings and you’ll hear and see why this is a problem…
How did Crosby do against the Islanders in Game 4 as the crowd chanted “Princess Crosby”… he produced just one assist, his lowest point total in any playoff game this year so far!
Leafs fans at the ACC need to start heckling the Bruins, they need to start getting under their skin and distracting them to help our boys win.
As much as players say such taunts don’t affect their play, they do hear them, they do register them – it does have an impact.
At the game Monday a fan next to me turned to his brother and said, “We need to boo every time Chara touches the puck.” It didn’t happen.
This is it, Leafs Nation – this may just be our last chance to cheer loud enough, taunting the other team well enough, to help our boys. (Who knows when another playoff home game will come around if we lose the next two games.)
So get loud, get proud, and help the Leafs RUIN the Bruins. A pic of JVR doing just that to their biggest player (Chara). Cheers.
