Photo Gallery: Police ensure no riots after Game 6
We all saw what happened after Game 5 – a small group of Leafs fans destroyed a Beck Taxi, in “celebration.” (If you haven’t seen that post, I recommend you check it out.)
So, after Game 6, Toronto police ensured nothing of the sorts happened again.
There were many, many more police around Maple Leafs Square on Sunday compared to Friday, when the men destroyed the taxi. (Poor driver says he does not want to pick up fares near the ACC anymore.)
Police efficiently controlled the flow of the crowd and were quicker than on Friday to get in behind it and move people along.
It made for an incident free – as far as I could tell – celebration, which is the way it should be.
The only trouble I spotted brewing was a small group of fans still celebrating well after the game’s end near the Square…
But there were so many police on the street that they circled the crowd, let it have its fun, and moved in to break it up once some men repeatedly tried to light a Boston Bruins jersey on fire. Nothing compared to Friday.
Hopefully, win or lose, it’s the same way Monday night. This tale is in pictures from my iPhone as I followed fans, they are all inside the post…
Go Leafs Go. Cheers.
