Recap: GAME 5 Leafs v.s. Bruins
We have a shot. We just need to win at home.
The Toronto Maple Leafs stunned the Boston Bruins on Friday, beating them for the second time in Boston.
Now we come back to the Air Canada Centre for Game 6 on Sunday. There’s no way we’re going to lose a third straight at home, right?
Let’s hope so. If the Leafs can win Sunday, Game 7 back in Boston can go either way.
And considering we’ve outplayed Boston in the last two games, I like our chances.
Leafs Nation could feel a win on its way Friday – that same feeling from Wednesday, when it felt as though all the cheers propelled the Leafs forward.
Carlyle asked Reimer to steal a game, and he sort of did just that Friday. His team played well, netting two goals – both oddly unassisted – but he was definitely needed.
Up 2-0 early in the third period, the Leafs stayed back a little – we only had four shots in the third – and Reimer was there to backstop them to a 2-1 victory.
Reimer’s continuous big saves had the crowd outside the ACC cheering just as loud, maybe louder, than when the Leafs scored.
Reimer has faced more shots than any other goalie, and made more saves than any other, in these playoffs so far. He’s solid.
A solid, hot goalie is what’s needed to win playoff series – what’s needed, especially, to make a playoff series comeback.
It just may happen for Leafs Nation.
Friday’s game was another display of Toronto’s offensive talent, with chance coming after chance – and Rask stymieing them all – but the Leafs sure did play some staunch defence as well.
They look to be getting better ever game. That’s only going to help heading into Game 6 on Sunday.
Another effort like the last two games – and someway to shake off the home jitters (maybe put the boys up in a hotel) – and Game 7 is on its way. I can feel it already.
Go Leafs Go. Cheers. Video highlights are inside the post, save for Bozak's goal below...
