Recap: GAME 6 Leafs v.s. Bruins
Was there really any doubt, Leafs Nation?
We all knew the boys wouldn’t drop a third straight at home. It just wasn’t going to happen – especially with Reimer in net!
The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Boston Bruins in Game 6 at the Air Canada Centre on Sunday to force a Game 7 back in Boston on Monday.
The Leafs have now won two games in a row, and have outplayed the Bruins in the last three. With such momentum behind us, taking Game 7 in Boston sounds promising.
And if Kessel and Phaneuf – the two faces of the team – step up in Game 7 like they did in Game 6, taking Game 7 sounds likely.
Kessel and Phaneuf scored for Toronto on Monday for the 2-1 victory; credit where credit’s due.
But on that note, it was Reimer once again who really won this game for the Leafs.
If we do take the series, we can go back, review the tapes, and thank Reimer for that amazing save on Bergeron in Game 6; it shifted the series.
He’d already been playing outstanding, but that save altered the Bruins’ mindset – it made Boston doubt if they could beat him.
The Bruins got a lucky goal in the third period in Game 5 – Reimer had shut them out otherwise. In Game 6 on Sunday, he continued shutting them out – and again, Boston only managed to net a lucky one in the third period.
Once a goalie gets into the minds of his opponents like this, making them doubt themselves and whether they can beat him, it’s over; he’s won.
If Reimer can keep this up, and guys like Phaneuf, Kessel, Lupul or JVR step up, Game 7 is ours. Thanks, Reimer.
