With five games to go, I want these magnificent Leaf Bastards to clean the table.
We are on the way to greatness. These may be the first small steps, but, I think all can readily see the beginnings of the charge coming over the horizon.
Go you rampaging band of young colts go.
We shall overcome!
VM Replies: Good day, Robert.

Agreed Valley Red. I am not sure if the current PP could even be described as such. Sometimes I wish they'd just forget they are on a PP and just play normally. And why no Kadri on the PP. The lil guy is creative.
Let's hope Phil shuts down the "thank you Kessel" chants once and for all tonight. I have a feeling he will.
Posted by: moe green | 03/31/2011 at 04:11 PM
Bomber! Are you still tingly about the game tonight too? It isn't over until the tingling stops.
Posted by: moe green | 03/31/2011 at 04:13 PM
Overcome indeed Robert. Let's cling to that slim playoff chance as long as we possibly can my friend. It ain't quite decided yet is it. Go Colty Bastards, Go!

Bomber with the $$. Please Vin, let him say ass.
VM Replies: I didn't change that. He can say ass. Everybody can say ass if it helps this team win tonight.
Posted by: moe green | 03/31/2011 at 04:17 PM
It looks like we are going to have to catch Monreal and New York because Buffalo and Carolina are not looking like they will lose again this year.
Posted by: Ken Baumgartner | 03/31/2011 at 04:19 PM
Kessel will score 2 and seguin 0 Moe.
Kaberle will score one but that is all the bean towners will score.
We will win 3-1.
That is what my spidey sense is telling me.

I always suffer from a terrible case of pre-game butterflies. The last hour or two of work (which is when games start out here in BC) are torturous on game-days, I can barely sit still.
The Leafs are my kryptonite. Lord knows, I have tried to quit them. But no other team makes me feel this way. I tried switching allegiances and becoming a Canucklehead. Never worked. Couldn't get the Leafs off my mind. If they were a man, he'd have ruined my bloody life by now. (God save me from such a person!)
Bring on the Bruins!! GO LEAFS GO!!

VM Replies: Ah, right. Sorry, oakville_girl.
Not thinking clearly right now. I'm still distracted by the image of Moe in a velvet smoking jacket, putting the moves on all the Leafettes.
Posted by: Wandering Penguin | 03/31/2011 at 04:33 PM
Here's to your "spidey sense" Bomber! This will be a big win confidence-wise for the Leafs. I can't imagine we will go down easily tonight.

Bomber! I knew we were brothers from different mothers.

Kick some ass TG77.
1959 Vinnie, the year of the incredible comeback.
Lets go for it Moe.
Boo Who? Some stage personalities I worked with back in the days, said they always have several nervous pees before going on. Would that help? Or would your whole office wonder what the hell you were doing when you kept going to the can?
Just trying to help. Takes my mind of the approaching game
Common you Colts!
VM Replies: Thank you, Robert. Yes, Mr. Penguin clued me in to oakville_girl's allusion.
Now I have to pee for some reason.

Okay I guess I'm warming to "Optimus Reim." He does kinda transform from a smiley-faced, mild mannered, god-fearing, farm-boy into a puck stopping machine.

I think it's awesome that the 'Rieminister of Defence' is putting Optimus on his mask, it's a pretty good nick name and a nod to the fans who call him that. I think I like that he's excited by it too.
Is it game time yet?
Posted by: Lil | 03/31/2011 at 04:50 PM
Ha ha, VM, Moe Hefner has his work cut out for him.
What does he do with us once he catches us?
And after those two minutes are over, what about the rest of the time?
For the record, being a 'rare treasure' is not as much fun as it's cracked up to be. In fact, it veers between the dreadfully dull and the downright terrifying, often on the same day.
Which is why I come here to spend time with men of good quality. I'd say you all serve to cleanse my palate, but your minds are too far in the gutter at the moment for that not to be taken entirely the wrong way. So I'll just say that I yuv you guys.

I just want to point out that I am not old enough to know about the 1959 comeback other than through Leafs lore.
I do, however, want to be able to tell my grandchildren about the comeback of

Leafs, just a few words of good luck.....pASS, mASS, glASS, clASS, sASS, tASS, .....i.e., kick some Big Bad Bear's backside.
Posted by: leafland'r | 03/31/2011 at 05:12 PM
It will be ASStonishing how completely wonderful all of the pASSes will be tonight, as the Leafs amASS two points against the BASStan team. SensASStional it will be as they take the Bruins to tASSk and shove their faces into the glASS, and bounce pucks off of ThomASS's mASSk as the cheers cASScade from the Leafs fans in attendAnSSe. Ok, I've pushed it enough.
GO LEAFS GO!
Posted by: oakville_girl | 03/31/2011 at 05:31 PM
Ok! i think there are too many asses in this thread. Let's keep it that way. For some odd reason other teams cannot do any favours for the leafs. For example, Rangers couldn't beat Buffalo on a back to back. Or the ha*ss couldn't do leafs a favour by beating carolina. I am starting to get the impression that these teams do not want to see leafs be successful. But you know what, when the time comes for these leafs basssterds are in playoffs and the team's i have mentioned trying to fight for a playoff spot. I hope the leafs don't do any favours for them and just plainly beat their asses down.
Sorry guys in a excited, bad mood today. Played basketball and just got amped for it.
ass!!

Anyone in here ever been to Boston. Jokes aside, what is the city like? How does it compare to Toronto? Size? Coolness? I am asking because of a possible relocation.
Posted by: moe green | 03/31/2011 at 06:08 PM
@leafland'r: I vote for Leaflets too. Leaflettes?
Posted by: moe green | 03/31/2011 at 06:13 PM
Just heard on Sports Centre that Burke said today that Wilson will be back next year.
Posted by: hoofheartz | 03/31/2011 at 06:20 PM
@Moe: Boston is fantastic - just be prepared to get in lots of conversations about how to get from point A to point B. That's always a common topic. Once you see Boston you'll know. I love that town though. Best part: the Leafs are there three times a year. Hopefully beating some Bruin butt!
Posted by: Brian K | 03/31/2011 at 06:21 PM
Okay, finally you people show up! Have been here all day waiting!
Okay Moe and leafland'r - I like Leaflettes! Have to slip away soon but will be back by end of first period.
Pompoms, skirt, other necessary essentials are at the ready!
Posted by: Sue | 03/31/2011 at 06:29 PM
@moe - I loved the city the few times I have been there. Most recently, I went there last summer for a educator's job market (basically a place where phd students try to get their first professor job) and I had a fair amount of down time and loved exploring the city. I mean, c'mon, they have the bar that Cheers was based on! From my understanding, it is a fantastic sports town but you have to put up with die-hard Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots fans and listen to that guy on NESN who is the bruins commentator, Jack Edwards. As for more sports stuff, Fenway Park is a cool place but the Sox weren't in town when I was there so I just did a tour of the park.
I think it has a pretty good music scene and there is a fair amount of green space, tons of universities in the area too. My understanding is the weather is colder than T.O. and maybe even more snow but probably not hugely different and they can have very warm summers. Like Toronto, there is a waterfront but I would say it's considerably nicer than the TO waterfront (I know that isn't saying much due to the condo-explosion along the Quay and Front st). It's only a few hours from NYC too and a lot of New England is quite beautiful i.e. New Hampshire, Vermont. There is tons of nature-based stuff to do in the area and if you are a history buff, they have a really cool trail through 'time' through the city. Another nice thing about it, is while it was a fair hike to get from the interview site to my hotel, I was able to ditch the suit and covered a lot of the city in less than a few hours. If you want, add me on facebook if you have it and I have a whole album of my trip to Boston.
Cheers (no pun intended)!

I love hanging with you bunch of ASSES!
Posted by: Sue | 03/31/2011 at 06:32 PM
@ moe - Boston is a great town. I have family that live there, and they actually moved to Beantown from Texas come to think of it. We used to live in Irving. Troy Aikman jogged past our house on the regular.
And since nothing is bigger than Texas, why even ask?
If I were to compare it to Canadian cities, for some reason Boston strikes me as being closer to Ottawa than Toronto in terms of 'feel'. Will need to think about why that is exactly, it's just a knee-jerk thing.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/31/2011 at 06:36 PM
And Moe, Aerosmith is from there as I am sure you know. I made the mistake of not knowing that they and the J. Geils band were playing Fenway on the day I walked over to do a tour and I honestly thought the scalpers were going to kill me when I asked "who is playing?"
Speaking of Aerosmith...

Posted by: Ken Baumgartner | 03/31/2011 at 06:44 PM
'Leaflets' is a little too diminutive for my liking. And a little too political-sounding. Let's not start getting airs about what we're setting out to do here - the whole reason the Leafettes were founded was to use our feminine wiles to secure a win. We're not lobbying against lowering the corporate tax rate here.
This is hockey! Show us some goals and we'll show you our pompoms, that's how all this here stuff works.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/31/2011 at 06:47 PM
Hauling my ass out to gather sap right now. Expect to see Bruin asses smeared all over the ice when I return.

I'm with Boo on the Leafettes vs Leaflettes debate... Leaflettes makes us sound like folded sheets of paper to be handed out... and we are most definately not being handed out, (Sorry to Hef and his ASSistant, lol) ;) Leafettes sounds much better to me.
Game time! Let's go Leafs!!

Posted by: Ken Baumgartner | 03/31/2011 at 07:31 PM
thank goodness that the leafs defense is working well on the PP

Posted by: Stormcastle | 03/31/2011 at 07:34 PM
Yeah the PP actually looks alive tonight.
Posted by: jt | 03/31/2011 at 07:34 PM
Yeah, we heard about the Wilson thing. Pundits are punditting that he's got to get an extension even. A freakin' extension. Maybe a raise. makes sense.
Posted by: moe green | 03/31/2011 at 07:35 PM
I dread to think where we'd be if we DID have a PP/PK to be proud of
Posted by: LaineyTML12 | 03/31/2011 at 07:36 PM
It's strange in practice as well as in theory, moe. Bear in mind that Ms. Boo is a big ol' nerd, and therefore possesses one of the most tricked out phones you're likely to find. It'd be unrecognizable to your average Apple employee.
The feed is actually really good for a change, but the damn sound cut out on me. Can't have everything, I suppose.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/31/2011 at 07:36 PM
Pretty weak penalty calls.
Posted by: moe green | 03/31/2011 at 07:36 PM
That was a better PP.
Posted by: Ken Baumgartner | 03/31/2011 at 07:38 PM
1st power play - no Kadri. PP ends, Kadri out on the ice, immediately draws a penalty, goes back to bench. FINALLY he gets out halfway through the second PP...and they sustain pressure from then on. Coincidence? Doubt it.
Posted by: Wandering Penguin | 03/31/2011 at 07:38 PM
Moe - it's a catch 22 - we want to have our boys do well, but by doing well it makes the coach look good, thereby reinforcing with Burke that he should keep the coach.
Posted by: oakville_girl | 03/31/2011 at 07:38 PM
yeah, they're cheering for you Philthy... when you get back on the ice, pop in a quick one to shut those asses in Basston up
Posted by: LaineyTML12 | 03/31/2011 at 07:38 PM
Ooooh, whaaaa sssappeneeeng? Kessel looks pissed!! I missed sumthin.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/31/2011 at 07:39 PM
Oy. So... our strategy is to take bad penalties? Suuuuu-perrrrrrr 〴⋋_⋌〵

I hate these "make up " penalties
Posted by: oakville_girl | 03/31/2011 at 07:42 PM
I sure hope Bozak finds his scoring touch next year, because he is great on the face off and he gets so many scoring chances. If he finds his touch he could be lethal
Posted by: Ken Baumgartner | 03/31/2011 at 07:42 PM
Nice got out of the period with the lead. Hey Stormcastle good to have you back.
Posted by: Ken Baumgartner | 03/31/2011 at 07:45 PM
LOL! Apparently TSN commentators were feeling what I said in their forum the other day: will Leafs head office look to trade Reimer for some 1st round draft pick come summer?
Posted by: Stormcastle | 03/31/2011 at 07:46 PM
wow, we squeeked thru that period. We have to stay out of the box and not take stupid penalties. I've gotta go pace, I'm nervous about this one kids.
Posted by: LaineyTML12 | 03/31/2011 at 07:46 PM
Moe.One good thing about Beantown is you are a short drive to New Brunswick.
Posted by: TimB | 03/31/2011 at 07:47 PM
Not a bad if choppy period. My feed, not the game. Though I can't be sure. So far, so good.
Wilson is an enigma. If we win the cup next year (I am seriously expecting it) then I'll give him some credit. Seriously though: The PP, the PK and more?
