Is it me or is Reimer acting like a slinky tonight? Man, he is good!

Amazing saves by Jimmy. Amazing miss by Nazem. Gotta bury that dude.
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 10:30 PM
It's cool, it's cool. We're still in this.
My favourite little Jedi is on the case, thank God.
These US announcers are gonna sprain something with all this relentless enthusiasm.

3-1 Yeah!!!
.
WAIT A MINUTE!!!!
.
What the H-e-doublehockeysticks have I been thinking?
.
We (Sens fans) want the Avs to WIN!
.
DUH! Here the heck has my head been. Must have been distracted or something.
.
My team is in one of those odd reverse races --- trying to end up LOWER in the standings than another team, in this case Denver. I got confused and thought I should be cheering for the Avs to lose, and thus the Leafs to win.
.
(puts down pom-poms)
.
Sorry folks. It was fun while it lasted but I have to rescind my GO LEAF, GO cheers.
.
At least I WON'T cheer GO (you-know-who), GO! here --- or say it anywhere for that matter.
.
Darn, I was enjoying being able to cheer for the Leafs for a change.
.
(embarrassed soft smile)
Posted by: Sensi-Bill | 03/24/2011 at 10:31 PM
.........kadri you gotta bury those
Posted by: xpander | 03/24/2011 at 10:32 PM
Would somebody care to take a shot at explaining to me what exactly constitutes "Goalie Interference"? Somebody not with the NHL, that is, because I know THEY don't have a clue.
Looks like the officiating tonight is rounding nicely into post-season form.
Posted by: Wandering Penguin | 03/24/2011 at 10:32 PM
@VM: sorry I misled you. I meant to say "can't stay LONG". TV is on a whole 'nother floor of this place. Don't want to miss the game...but couldn't hold my tongue about that goal. Off again. Back later.
Posted by: Wandering Penguin | 03/24/2011 at 10:33 PM
It is as you said Moe. Nasty has to earn that nickname. He certainly did not do so on that glorious chance. Find a way to get the puck in the net Nazem!
GO LEAFS GO!
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 10:34 PM
What is with all this sloppy play?
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 10:35 PM
@Sensi-Bill - pls keep cheering! We won't tell anyone!
Posted by: Sue | 03/24/2011 at 10:36 PM
Leafs had better win this one!! Otherwise, this will be a total waste of pompoms.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/24/2011 at 10:39 PM
I don't mind the pompoms so much, but this skirt makes me look fat.
Posted by: TimB | 03/24/2011 at 10:41 PM
Phew! So glad to get out of the second with a lead. Not playing as well as need to play. Losing faceoffs, not controlling the play in the neutral zone, not clearing the net like we should, relying too much on Jimmy etc........
Am looking at Kool to grab a hattie in the third. Or Philthy. Philthy where have you gone man? Lupul? I do not see you guys out there doing anything useful.
Note to Sensibill: I was brought up in Ottawa as a young child watching the Leafs with my grandfather. You need to come over to the blue and white light my friend. Come on over man. It is clear to me that you want to do so. Do it. Please.
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 10:42 PM
Wow, Boston 7-0 against the Habs. beatiful.
now if only the Leafs could do this tonight. only one to go... fingers crossed.
Posted by: Peter | 03/24/2011 at 10:43 PM
*whispers*
.
for you Sue, OK. *smile*
Posted by: Sensi-Bill | 03/24/2011 at 10:43 PM
(for Sue and ONLY certain others)
.
*whispers* go Leafs, go.
Posted by: Sensi-Bill | 03/24/2011 at 10:45 PM
I'd like to see Kulemin open the third with a couple quick ones. Boy it IS nice being prettier. It's little too nice. Like this one time, when I was in Amsterdam...
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 10:48 PM
Only one line firing on all cylinders tonight and Jimmy should be aces in any shootouts.
Posted by: TimB | 03/24/2011 at 10:48 PM
Geoff, Princess and other Canadiens fans: How y'all feelin' about your squad's chances in the playoffs now? Not looking good. Not tough enough, not strong enough, not playoff ready. And no scoring.
Two games+ plus now without a goal. Blame the injuries if you want but they are little dudes playing in a dangerous rink. Jesting but they aren't a very good team. Finished 19th last year overall. Should not have made the playoffs. They did and they did well
They had their two little miracles over Washington and Pittsburgh last year. There will be no miracles this year mes amis. One and done. Sorry. Je suis vraiment desole pour tous les fanatiques des Canadiens.
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 10:51 PM
You guyssss....you GUYS. You guys!
Big pompom-assisted cheers for two of my favourite posters, going back to their usual sweet selves.
Ok, back to the Leafs...we need to pot at least one more goal for me to feel good about tonight's effort. Because I'm not seeing much to cheer about.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/24/2011 at 10:52 PM
i just saw the oilers-blues highlites. man, Edmonton stinks. i know they are supposedly rebuilding, but it's really painful to watch. can't play defence and their goaltending is awful.
sorry for being off-topic. :-)
Posted by: Peter | 03/24/2011 at 10:52 PM
You know, I haven't checked but it seems that the Leafs take far fewer penalties this year than last?
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 10:58 PM
Nice Lu-pass! Lame.
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 10:59 PM
yeah phil!!!! Stick it to the avalanche
Posted by: xpander | 03/24/2011 at 10:59 PM
Yip got the interference yips. Now let's see Kool, Kessel or Lupul score a goal to pretty much salt this away.
GO LEAFS GO!
KESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSELLLLLLLLLLLLL!
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. I KNEW YOU WOULD BE PHILTHY TONIGHT PHIL. I KNEW IT. I LOVE YOU MAN.

Posted by: Peter | 03/24/2011 at 10:59 PM
Imagine if the Leafs give the Wings this many chances.
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 11:03 PM
Kessel from Lupul! Nice....
Posted by: wcdixon | 03/24/2011 at 11:04 PM
I'm liking the Lupul factor. He's getting stronger.
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 11:04 PM
hey, moe, they are leading! they just scored! stop being so negative!
Posted by: Peter | 03/24/2011 at 11:05 PM
@moe
I concur you make a valid point. But you need to be in the now. Be glad the leafs are doing what they're doing. We'll worry about saturday, saturday. It works for lots of people when it comes to debt......
Posted by: xpander | 03/24/2011 at 11:06 PM
Dion got away with one there...
Posted by: Peter | 03/24/2011 at 11:09 PM
Moe No doubt we will have our hands full in Motown on Sat. nite as I mentioned before on a previous blog, and as we all very well know.
Let's just savor this right brother Leaf fan OK?
GO LEAFS GO!
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 11:10 PM
@Sensi-Bill - Thank you!
@TimB - No, you do not look fat!
@Boo - keep shaking girl!
2 goal lead, let's keep it up!
Posted by: Sue | 03/24/2011 at 11:11 PM
Okay - feeling a little better.
We can do this! It is almost past my bedtime though! Will try and hang in there!
Posted by: Sue | 03/24/2011 at 11:13 PM
Love so much that they play that particular Cee-Lo Green song after the Leafs score! Ha ha ha!!
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/24/2011 at 11:13 PM
No goal?? Hmmph.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/24/2011 at 11:15 PM
Kicked in...they aren't going to allow this one. Darn.
Posted by: wcdixon | 03/24/2011 at 11:15 PM
Good work on the forecheck Mike Brown a.k.a. Fu. You were not rewarded but so be it.
Let's close this one out, grab the two points and head to Motown for a
Sat. nite showdown.
GO LEAFS GO!
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 11:16 PM
These are fun but dangerous games guys. Far too sloppy tonight. Still have to win this one.
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 11:20 PM
ARRRRGH!!!!! 4-3!!! *throws down pompoms, pushes up sleeves*
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/24/2011 at 11:20 PM
OUCH! O'Reilly a damn fine hockey player. Let's get this done Toronto.
We have given them life and that is not cool. Let us be cool now Jimmy and everyone.
GO LEAFS GO!
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 11:21 PM
Ugh. Leafs gonna make us sweat out another one. Don't they think of the fans with all these tie or 1 goal games?? Some of us are getting old and can't take the anxiety and stress!
Posted by: wcdixon | 03/24/2011 at 11:22 PM
@TimB

While it's well known that TV adds 10 pounds, few realize that the Internet adds 15.

Did I hear people say "Who?"

The original Johnny Carson?

"Who?"

The original Jay Leno?

"Who?"

The original Conan O'Brien then Jay Leno again?

Anyway . . .

Now that PP was pathetic. Games like this lull the Leafs into thinking they are better than they are. They start thinking: "We can beat these Red Wings" and then it's over. This is a sloppy effort so far. Lots of "lost" in our own zone.
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 11:25 PM
Well, at least our powerplays are good for one thing - giving an opposition player two minutes to rest.
Leafs need to pick up the pace. They didn't skate this morning, so no 'tired' excuses. Bury the Avalanche and let's go.
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/24/2011 at 11:30 PM
REIMER REIMER REIMER REIMER
YOU UTTERLY MAGNIFICENT BASTARD. HOLD THE LINE BROTHER.
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 11:30 PM
Come on Toronto!
.
We DID try to help.
.
We DID give them Elliot.
.
(Actually, for his sake, I was hoping that Elliot might do better with a fresh start, as I do sort of like the guy and he did TRY for us. But I guess the Avs may have acquired him to make tanking easier without seeming to, or having to, intentionally throw games.)
.
Oh well, worse comes to worst I'll take third-last if it's the result of our Bingo Boys --- and their personal Peter Pan, one Jason Spezza --- working hard every night trying to win no matter whom they face.
Posted by: Sensi-Bill | 03/24/2011 at 11:30 PM
icing? No no not with less than a minute in a one-goal game
Posted by: Sensi-Bill | 03/24/2011 at 11:32 PM
I did not breathe for the last minute of the game! Big Breathe now!
Posted by: Sue | 03/24/2011 at 11:33 PM
HOLY MOLY!! REIMER!!! BLESSED ART THOU!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Posted by: Boo Who? | 03/24/2011 at 11:34 PM
Why, oh why do they have to do this to us our loyal fans!?! I love excitement in a game, but geez louise, not ALL THE TIME!!!
Sloppy PP, but thank god we have a goalie!
Posted by: oakville_girl | 03/24/2011 at 11:34 PM
Reimer saved this one. I no likey. Likey winny hate confused defensive zone coverage. That was a sloppy game and I hope they do not get over-confident. This season is not over yet!
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 11:34 PM
You said it PP, Reimer really shut the door when it counted. Wow!
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 11:35 PM
Whew. Sounds like they made it needlessly close
.
Congrats Leafs.
.
(Happy for the nice people here.)
Posted by: Sensi-Bill | 03/24/2011 at 11:36 PM
VICTORY! AWESOME! LOVE IT!
33-30-10 now. Loving Leafs wins always. Where are the girls who love the Leafs? Where is TPiddy?
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 11:36 PM
Reimer the difference. Again. Onward to 3 monster tough games coming up.
Posted by: wcdixon | 03/24/2011 at 11:37 PM
I their record is a high water mark this season since the 4-0 start.
Posted by: moe green | 03/24/2011 at 11:39 PM
That was pretty brutal, but I'll take it and off to Detroit.Face offs and power plays.Yikes! Go Panthers!Go Lightning!
Posted by: TimB | 03/24/2011 at 11:40 PM
geesh, these boys like shaving years off my life with the stress they produce every game! Some sloppy play defensively, but Reimer bailed them out this time! Look for me on saturday night at the Joe; I'll be off to the side of the Leaf bench in the corner, section 116.
Posted by: gettingcozywithsarkozy | 03/24/2011 at 11:40 PM
Wow, is Grabovski ever rounding into an incredibly complete hockey player. He works like a (magnificent) bastard in his own end and is a scoring machine at the other. What a steal Fletcher pulled off there - and all because two punk brothers had a little temper tantrum and wouldn't get along with Grabbo in Montreal. Still laughing about that.
A highlight for me tonight, though, was how much my cat loved that Telus commercial with the parrots. She had kind of been ignoring the game until that came on. I had to replay it for her about 10 times.
She prefers baseball, for some reason. Meh.
GO LEAFS GO!!!
Posted by: Wandering Penguin | 03/24/2011 at 11:48 PM
Sarko Cool. Please wear a Leafs sweater preferably with Borschevsky on it OK? LOL
Posted by: Pyramid Power | 03/24/2011 at 11:49 PM
Well night all.
.
Good luck Saturday night.
.
My guys host the Caps tomorrow night and then are off to Atlanta for an afternoon tilt Sunday.
.
I've an Ottawa '67s playoff game to attend Saturday afternoon at Scotiabank
Place, so might be napping LOL by the time HNIC rolls around.
.
Take care.
Posted by: Sensi-Bill | 03/24/2011 at 11:52 PM
LOL @ Borschevsky jersey. That would be priceless.
Posted by: Wandering Penguin | 03/24/2011 at 11:54 PM
ha Borschevsky! I love it. While I never personalized my jersey, that would be one of my top choices. Either that or Butcher or Beaupre (there are a few memorable ones!)
Posted by: gettingcozywithsarkozy | 03/25/2011 at 12:09 AM
Methinks you might be missing the special joy associated with wearing a Borschevsky jersey....to the Joe.
Posted by: Wandering Penguin | 03/25/2011 at 07:38 AM
Wow.... loved watching Komisarek open a big can of whoop ass last night. That's the Komisarek we need to see more of.
