I'm still around, and have not been chased off, though I must say I was none too proud of the Habsters who showed up recently to go bla bla bla gna..gna...gna...Leafs suck...you suck...bla bla bla in unison ...so uncouth!
It's a good thing Geoff and I are around to raise the bar (ahem), as it were....
The past few days I have been mostly on the road or sick in bed, and came back to school to find that some of my students had been waterboarding supply teachers in my absence...ah, friends! The children are our future! Scary, no?
But back to more important things: hockey.
I mean: a party.
Please remember that I live in Mississauga and I am a teacher, ergo: I have no life. Any excuse to deliver noogies and air kisses to stellar human beings will not be passed up, esp when some of them have been to Japan, love the Habs, know who Princess Mononoke is, and are willing to gird their loins in the defense of our mighty smurfs....not that I'm singling out anyone in particular, here.
Actually,
I would love to meet all of you in the flesh, including those whose flesh is irrigated by white-and-blue blood...or red-and-black blood...I would love to meet all of you!
As for hockey, I don't know what to say.
You guys have been pooping on the Habs for weeks.
Now you are sad because the Rangers and Carolina have not rolled over, and the Bruins and Philly have no killer instinct. There's no pleasing you. You need to be men and women of love, not hate.
The gods of hockey are gods of love and justice. That is why Rod Brin D'Amour is so hideous and Ryan Miller so haunted by demons.

If the "Festivous for ALF B" happens in July, make sure it is not on the weekend of the 23rd. I have a football road trip to Nova Scotia that I won't be missing.
I have to go to football now so Girls shake your pompoms extra for me please. I will try to get back for the end of the game.
If they win they live for another day, even if it is life support, They may as well kick Ovi ass.

Just read all the comments. Great stuff people. Up early again today for the Leafs tilt with the Caps. Superb article I have to say by Damien today about the Caps goaltending situation that kind of mirrors ours.
Suggested song for this particular blog would be the nihilisitic 'Zero' by the Smashing Pumpkins. "Intoxicated with the madness, I'm in love with my sadness." About sums up this Leafs fan's mood about the team right now, and the year they had.
The sun is rising here now though and hope does indeed spring eternal at A LFB.
Laughed hard at Vinay's comment that a place could be found between Motown and Chicago to have a LFB party at. One of the most desolate drives in the world has to be the approx. four hours from Windsor to Detroit. BUT even MORE desolate is the five drive approx. from Detroit to Chicago. Maybe Sarko and Matt could meet up in Kalamazoo? Yay. What a fun time. :)
Bad bad memories of a return trip to Chicago to see Comiskey, old Comiskey Park before it got torn down, and Wrigley and the awesome sights and sounds of Chicago. Must have been doing about 90MPH heading towards Detroit on an early Monday morning trying to get back to work in Toronto before 9 a.m. Got pulled over by a Michigan cop who was out for blood. The usual do I think I am a pilot jokes etc..... spat out venomously my way. Tore the car apart looking for dope with three other cruisers coming in to try to trash the Ontario speedstahs as badly as possible. Let my buds and I off with a warning because we did not have the cash to pay the fine. To this day if I am caught doing anything in Michigan my sorry self is off to a fine gaol for that mishap.
Anyway, here's to our guys getting a win tonight. Would be so nice to win out tonight, tomorrow in Jersey and Sat. against Montreal and finish with 40 wins. Would also be very painful if we do not make the playoffs yet win 40 games.
Oh, what I would do to jet on in for the first annual and seminal A LFB brewhaha sic. Hopefully our friend in Ghent, Belgium and a guy from Holland I believe who posted a while back can make it too.

Very surprised to hear OV getting booed. One of the greatest talents ever to play the game does not deserve to be jeered. Weird.
VM Replies: I just booed him very loudly. Of course, only my cats heard...
He may be great, no question, but I will never forget the way he photographed Kessel during the All-Star draft.
In my opinion, the joy he took in that incredibly awkward situation spoke volumes about what he's all about as a person.

He's just a kid with the world as his oyster Vinay. I hated that Kessel pic thing too, but there are plenty of people who are not too cool in the sports world as in good people.
I like OV, I like his enthusiasm, passion, energy, talent etc.... but he should cool it with antics like that and the 'smoking stick' shenanigans last summer etc.....
The Don as in Cherry sure gives it to him for all of that, and OV likes The Don. He'll grow up and learn.
I just hope his rambunctious 'Lindrosian' style of play never catches up to him as in hurts him from being one of the best ever that we hockey fans have had the pleasure to watch.

Happy to see Kool record his 30th goal of the year. What a productive line that has been for us all year. Would be nuts if Burkie did not find a way to sign MacArthur and keep that line intact.
Lot of chatter about Brooks Laich coming to Toronto. Will key on him tonight. Don't really know too much about the guy, and what he brings to the table.

Catch that Vinay? A LOT of players in the league would have been screaming at the refs for a penalty if not a penalty shot on that bust thru the defence explosion by OV.
Alex just Slavic stoic and silent and headed to the bench. No beeching or whining.
He ain't too awful stoic and silent in the nightclubs of Russia though is he?
Wonder what he does for charity back in Russia or the D.C. area etc.... You've got me wondering if he is a good human being or not. I think he is.

I will be the first to admit that I was starting to come down hard on Lupul for not scoring, but oh man he is getting comfortable in a Leafs Jersey. His potential is through the roof too. He was a number 7 pick just like Kadri. How many number ones are on the team? Anyone know?

its not up to other teams to decide the leafs fate. They had their own destiny in their hands from the beginning of the season, and blew it. No one to blame but them selves. ... no worries next yr :)
