Superstar swimmer Ryan Lochte, the new American heartthrob, is too busy for a girlfriend or anything but "one-night stands," his mother Ileanna has told the Today show.

“He goes out on one-night stands,” she says. “He’s not able to give fully to a relationship because he’s always on the go.”

“Everything he has done has been to the max. He’s unique, loving, and he challenges himself all the time,” says Ryan's mom.

Ike Lochte admits to being fiercely competitive. A former swim coach like her husband, she was Ryan's first pool boss.

Whether or not his mother also writes his Twitter posts as well as manages his love life is open to interpretation. But compare these two tweets from @ryanlochte:
