Map of the Week: Propane facilities

Ontario's Technical Standards and Safety Authority released a revised list of the province's propane facilities today.

Here are the largest ones in the Greater Toronto Area, licenced to hold over 5,000 U.S. gallons of propane.

Circles indicate a 1.6 kilometre radius around the facility, the distance Toronto mayor David Miller has urged they be kept from residential areas.

These circles appear to have a radius of 1km, not 1.6km

This has been corrected. To make a long story short, it was a metric conversion issue, stupidly enough - we thought the units in a line of XML were in miles, which would be typical for GoogleMaps, but instead it turned out to be kilometres.

Propane Facilities and all other Business Facilities working with toxic and volitile products should all be located in an Industrial Park at a safe distance away from housing.

Why are we using US Gallons as a way to measure? Aren't we supposed to be using metric for the last 30 years? What happens to Litres?
